The AirCore® System

AirCore is a modular growth system that replaces the gravel layer normally used and specified in "USGA" green construction. The components include a 300 mil three dimensional bi-planar high density Polyethylene geocomposite grid and an engineered non-woven geotextile fabric. The air layer created by AirCore creates optimum growing conditions in the root zone while creating the maximum drainage medium resulting in drainage that will move more water from under the putting surface than the standard USGA gravel layer.

Agronomists agree that one of the most critical elements in maintaining healthy turfgrass is efficient air and gas exchange. The AirCore system creates an air layer at the root tip that provides not only enhanced drainage, but an area for this critical air and gas exchange. Recent research has demonstrated that this air layer not only creates healthier roots in the putting green surfaces, but turfgrass on tee boxes heal more quickly where AirCore is used. AirCore also assures positive drainage in bunkers and any other areas on the golf course where drainage might be an ongoing problem. AirCore can be used ANY WHERE drainage is an issue or problem. It can also be used under synthetic athletic surfaces to assure drainage away from the playing surface.

The AirCore System consists of an impervious PVC liner, a patented geocomposite covered by an engineered non-woven textile fabric. AirCore engineers customs match one of ten unique non-woven textiles to the organic composition of the mix. For bunker usage, a substitute bunker fabric that assists in holding sand in place is used.

Environmentally Sensitive

AirCore is environmentally friendly eliminating the need to continually dig for gravel, creating more and larger quarries and areas that will ultimately require environmental mitigation. AirCore eliminates the need for costly trucking of gravel from these quarries, sometimes for huge distances, saving the project additional expenses for mileage, fuel surcharges and trucking.

AirCore is ideal for new or renovation projects. Because AirCore is delivered to the site in rolls that are easily handled and installed, we eliminate the need to truck gravel across the golf course, saving the golf course from additional wear in renovation projects.

Installation

AirCore is easy to handle and install. There is no need to spend hours spreading and leveling gravel, requiring extensive labor, which is not only expensive, but is significantly more time extensive. A typical 7,000 square foot green might require as much as 75-80 hours of manual labor to install and level the gravel layer, versus complete installation of the AirCore system in 4 to 5 hours. This is a savings of more than 90% in time and labor, thus providing the ability to begin grass growing on greens as quickly as five weeks sooner than typical USGA style greens.

Guarantee

AirCore is the only system available today that provides a guarantee against clogging when using AirCore in greens construction.

Our guarantee is simple. We require is a sample of your greensmix; our engineers then match the appropriate non-woven geotextile fabric to your greensmix and this fabric is laid in place over the geocomposite. Greensmix can be added immediately. The AirCore guarantee: 25 years against clogging. No other company makes this guarantee today, and further, there is no guarantee against clogging with "USGA" greens.
